For Students and Parents!

Parents Please Note!: Although I have very carefully selected the sites I link to for educational quality, appropriateness, and (especially) SAFETY, please monitor your child's web use. You should always be there to guide them, and have parental content filters in place before they start to browse...it only takes one click, so you can't be too careful!

Try this link for Kid Safety on the net from PBS...have your kid earn their license to surf!

Or use this link for kids of all ages and families.

Great Sites For Exploring Music...Hours of Fun!

Dallas Symphony Orchestra The DSO's site has loads to see, hear and do.  There are lists of composers (their works, and their songs to listen to), how to practice, how to make your own instruments at home, an instrument encyclopedia, music theory and so much more!

New York Philharmonic A great interactive site with a composers gallery, make your own instruments on the site, a newsstand with history during periods of music, and so much more that I haven't listed!

San Francisco Symphony Orchestra Very engaging interactive site for kids.  The SFSO has the basics-the staff, notes, rhythm, tempo, and instrumentation, etc.  This site also has a radio that allows you to listen music and also a small bio for each composer.

Free Music Info From the US Government...A Great Resource!

The Science of Music  SCIENCE ROCKS! A fantastic site that has online exhibits showing you "The Science of Music"

Sing-a-long pages National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) is a government site with sing-a-long songs and lyrics.

Fun For Young Ones at PBS KIDS MUSIC This site is for the young kids who would like to sing-a-long with Sesame Street characters and other PBS shows.

Animated Music Although you'll need to select the "English Language" version of this site, it is one man's own personal version of Disney's "Fantasia", with animations to some of the greatest classics of all time.  Entertaining and engaging!

AniMusic This is simply amazing...this fellow wrote the music AND the software that runs his movies...this is the future of music, I think...

Boy Scout Campfire Songs Break out the smores and crack open a smile...these are just plain old fun!

From The Top A radio program which airs Sundays at 1:00pm on WQED, featuring the best classical musicians in America, aged 12 to 18 (sometimes younger).  Provides GREAT inspiration to practice...
